How Kringstad Ironworks got started Kringstad Ironworks Inc. (KII) was started by Bernie and Leigh Kringstad in 1996, located on the family farmstead just south of Hoople, ND. The company began with just four full-time employees including Bernie. In 2006, the company expanded to a 50,000 square foot second facility located in Park River ND, and now has 35 full-time, with up to 25 additional part-time employees. KII started as a repair shop for farm equipment and has grown to one of the area’s premier manufacturing facilities.
